Betty J. Sowby 1946 - 2000 Betty J. Sowby, age 54, passed away June 3, 2000, at home in Salt Lake City. She was born Jan. 20, 1946, in Salt Lake City to Mark M. and Marie G. Sowby. Betty was a member of the LDS Church. She graduated from South High School and from the University of Utah. Betty worked for the State of Utah for 23 years in the Department of Commerce as a corporate documents examiner where she made many friends. She had a great love for books and music. She was a very thoughtful person and always remembered birthdays and holidays. Her family meant a great deal to her. She loved to travel, especially to New York to visit her sister Janet. Betty is survived by her sisters, Janet (Dennis) Vaccaro, and Charlene (Glenn) Larsen; brother, Wendell (Laurene) Sowby, and many nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death. The family would like to thank IHC Hospice Caregivers for helping Betty to the end of her battle with cancer in a loving and dignified way. Services will be 2 p.m. Tues. June 6th at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 So. Highland Dr., where friends may call Mon. 6-7:30 p.m. and 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery.
