David John Broadhead
Jul. 10, 1946 - Feb. 7, 1966

Pfc. David John Broadhead, 19, 607 Kennsington Ave. (1500 South), a member of the 1st Brigade, 101 Airborne Division. U.S. Army, died in action Sunday north of Saigon, the victim of small arms fire.

An Army enlistee in October 1964, in Salt Lake City, Pfc. Broadhead attended basic training at Fort Polk, La. He later was assigned to paratroop school at Fort Benning, Ga.

Pfc. Broadhead had received several citations for marksmanship and has served as head of a rice paddy scouting squad and a machine gunner.

Word was received of his death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Ezra Gull. 607 Kensington Ave., from Army information. He was to have returned home in May for an extended leave and reassignment. He had been in Viet Nam nearly a year.

Pfc. Broadhead was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a graduate of South High School.

He was born July 10, 1947 [1946 per his official military website], in Salt Lake City, a son of Gerald and Verla Gull Broadhead. He is survived by his grandparents, Salt Lake City; his fagther, Las Vegas, Nev. and his mother, Mrs. Verla Peterson, Golden Colo.

His body will be flown to Salt Lake City by the Army for furneral and burial
