David John Edmonds
1945 - 2023

Dave Edmonds died from complications of vascular dementia on February 23, 2023. He was the most gentle husband, father, brother and friend. Dave was born October 8, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah to David Midgley Edmonds and June Cardwell Edmonds (later Lawson). He grew up playing sports of all types in the Glendale area of Salt Lake City. He was a star athlete and leader at South High School, playing baseball, football, and serving as student body president. He attended the University of Utah on a baseball scholarship where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in philosophy followed by an M.B.A. Brothers from the Sigma Chi fraternity and many Ute teammates have remained devoted friends his entire life.

Dave married the love of his life, Wendy Quintana Edmonds on March 19, 1971. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple. They raised their family of four children in Sandy, Utah. He was a kind husband, a great dad and a skilled baseball coach. After 35 years, Dave retired from Packaging Corporation of America. Retirement gave him time to devote to his other true love, golfing. He loved golfing with his friends and spent countless hours enjoying his favorite courses. He was always trying to improve his game and his mind. He was an avid reader of golf and baseball history, classics, physics and church literature. His vast library is a wonder.

Dave is survived by his devoted wife Wendy, sister Cher Edmonds, brother Mike (Julie) Edmonds, daughter Amanda (Matt) Hovermale, son David (Susan) Edmonds, daughter Kami (Scott) Belchak, and son Christopher Edmonds. Grandchildren Stockton, Kameron, Emery, Lily, and Sophie were all privileged to grow up with his quiet generosity. Dave’s last two years were brightened daily by his beloved cat Arnie. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ron Edmonds.

His entire family was honored to be by his side these last few months, and we were touched by all the support from his large network of friends. We are grateful for the care of IHC Hospice Services, who ensured his comfort and dignity at the end.

A viewing will be held on March 10th at 12:00 PM with the funeral to follow at 2:00 PM.
