Gary Lynn Jones
1945 - 2006 Gary Lynn Jones 10/5/45 ~ 8/8/06 Gary Lynn Jones graduated from South High School then served in the US Army from 1965-68. He became a hockey fanatic when the Golden Eagles started in Salt Lake City. His love for the sport led him to a life of coaching, mentoring, and playing hockey. He loved the sport and took every opportunity to be around the hockey atmosphere. He was currently the coach of Alta High School Hockey and loved his team. He was self employed and well known at his hockey and silk-screening shop, Skate and Score. Survived by his wife, Kathryn Cope Jones; daughter, Briony Lyn Jones Kammerman (John); brothers and sisters: Sher Ansell, Steve Pitkin (Susan), Lyndy Shores (Jim), Larry Pitkin, Kim Kaddas (Steve), Leslie Smith (Dan); siblings: Susan Osborne (Bob) and Theron Jones; in-laws, Miriam Cope, Bruce Cope, Peggy Pitkin. Preceded in death by mother, Darlene Cayton Pitkin, stepfather, Dres Pitkin; father, Clinton Earl Jones; brother, Clinton Craig Jones. He passed away August 8, 2006 due to a sudden heart attack. Gary was a valuable asset to those he knew and to the hockey communities throughout the US. Although he was a very private man, he loved his family and friends dearly and noticeably. Viewings will be held Saturday, 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Sunday, 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm. Memory sharing on Sunday, 2:00 -4:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. No formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family, in Gary's name, at a Zions Bank. |
