Ronald Dennis Crawford
1945 - 2011

West Jordan, Ut-Every morning I looked at the obituaries to see if I was still alive. Today I looked and there I was – guess we all know what that means. Jami hates it when an obituary does not list the cause of death so I will tell you. I died March 14 due to lung cancer/emphysema. Just my luck, the one public official who told the truth was the Surgeon General, Cigarettes kill!!

I was born October 31, 1945 to James Robinson and Wanda Leggroan Crawford, the second of five children. I married Bess Hollingsworth (later divorced) and we had an amazing daughter, Staci. I later married Barbara Stones and we had 10 blissful years together (married 39 years). Together we had one daughter, Jami (our little diva) and one son Kip (my best friend).

I always tried to make sure that the people I liked knew it and the people I did not like knew that.

I have three wonderful grandchildren – Austin, Edee and Presley – who were my reward for no killing their parents when they were teenagers. In addition, I am survived by my mother, sisters Penny (Sylvester) Daniels, Dianne (Jerry) Parkin, sister-in-law Linda (Raymond) Lowe, my wife, children, nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. Predeceased by my father, brothers – Jimmy and Terry – mother-in-law, Lila Whipple, nephew Tony Pearson and niece Vanessa Lowe.

I had wonderful doctors during my illness – David Dienhart, Dave Griddin, Jack Ruckdeschel, and Jane MacPherson. Qualtiy Hospice was a great support. A special thanks to my nurse “Hurricane” (Katrina). We have been blessed with friends and neighbors who have supported us in so many ways. Special thanks to the Pandos who have always been there for us and Susie/Friend Piaz who went above and beyond making Sunday dinner for me and Kip almost every Sunday for the last 15 months.

I agreed to a funeral service with the stipulation that it be short. I told Barb that if it lasts longer than 30 minutes I want people to stand and walk out.

I was not much of a flower person so in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Utah Food Bank.

Services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday March 21 at the Mountain View Memorial Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South. (Hope you have a GPS). A viewing will be held on Friday from 6-8 pm at the mortuary as well as one hour prior to the services. Take care of my “people ducks.” A note to Kip – unicorns are real!
