Sandra Peterson McKee
1945 - 2022

Sandra McKee was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved us dearly and we loved her. She was freed from her ailing body and took her first deep breath in years when she entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.

Sandra was born to Edward James Peterson and Lila Hansen on November 11, 1945 and left this life on her dad’s birthday. She grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah with her siblings Jim (Shirley), Marlene (Sherman) Anderson, Noal (Nelda), Lynn (Linda), Larene (John) Gardner and Allen (Rene). Growing up, Sandra developed a passion for sports and excelled at track, volleyball and softball. Her sister, Larene said that she was such a fast runner that no one could catch her. She was the pitcher for the Belvedere Ward softball team that was recognized in the church news for their many wins and accomplishments. After graduating from South High School, she worked as a long-distance operator at Mountain Bell.

Sandra met the love of her life, Jim McKee at a Thursday night dance at the Terrace and they were engaged 1 month later. They married in the Salt Lake City Temple on October 29, 1965. They had 5 children together, 4 hellion boys and 1 angel daughter: Chris (Mercy), Brad (Jana), Mike (Jennifer), Kelly (Mary) and Stephanie (Brandon) Buckner. Motherhood was the greatest adventure of her life and she loved every minute of it. Her home was filled with love and laughter, mini battles and peace negotiations. She dedicated her life to the building up of her children and grandchildren and was proud of their many accomplishments. Although she had to give up her sports due to physical limitations, she enjoyed spending her time quilting and loved making gifts for others. Perhaps her greatest achievement in her life was instilling a love of our Savior, Jesus Christ in her family through her quiet acts of service. She taught us to love each other and to love our Lord and for that we are forever indebted to her.

Although we are sad for her passing, we are all so grateful for the knowledge that she is once again running and freed from all physical limitations. She has always been and will continue to be a guiding light in our lives. We love you forever mom, until we meet again.
